*17 October 2008* Dear all: Just a few brief, but for me very important, news items on this update.

*Durtro Jnana and Coptic Cat* We have had some emails from people slightly confused about the recent developments with Durtro Jnana and Coptic Cat, so we wanted to clarify the situation. Firstly, Durtro Jnana and United Jnana are STILL operating and will CONTINUE to operate. The greater part of previous Durtro Jnana and United Jnana catalogue is STILL in print and will REMAIN in print. And ALL C93 back catalogue and reissues will continue to be released on Durtro Jnana. And it may well be that in future more new artists and more new releases will come out on Durtro Jnana. Both jnanarecords.com and durtro.com and the shops connected to their websites CONTINUE to operate. COPTIC CAT has been set up to release NEW material, both musical and literary, by Current 93, Anok Pe Current 93, David Tibet and other artists chosen by David. It is essentially a new label which operates under the Durtro Jnana banner, and whose releases will ALSO be available from jnanarecords.com and durtro.com. So, fundamentally, the only difference is is that all NEW material by David Tibet, C93 and all permutations thereof will be on the Coptic Cat label, a sub-division of Durtro Jnana! Until David changes his mind again. We hope that clears up any questions.

*David Tibet solo art exhibition at Isis Gallery, London* Some more details on this exhibition, which will be opening on November 29. We are presently working on the catalogue of the book, which will be published by Isis in association with Coptic Cat and which will, we hope, feature all the pieces in the exhibition. It also features an introduction by David, a foreword by Michel Faber and an afterword by Tod Wodicka. I am really honoured that Michel and Tod, two of my favourite writers, consented to write about my work and their responses to it. Bless you both and thanks. The Isis website has been slightly updated with some more details of the exhibition. Go to: www.isisgallery.org/artists/david_tibet.html. There are also two other links which can be clicked on within the page which have more text about the exhibition and more of my artwork: here and here. We hope to send out the full update concerning the show in the next week or so.

*Birth Canal Blues hand-printed edition* At the moment of writing, all 20 copies of the artist's edition with a drawing by David are sold out; there are 60 copies of the cream version left, and 35 copies of the crimson edition are left.

*Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry: new album (briefly!) featuring David Tibet* ‘Redemption’, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry's new album on Narnack Records which is produced by Andrew W.K. features David very briefly on vocals on the track, ‘Baby Sucker’. I am honoured to be on this. ‘Scratch’ is the MAN!

*Malleus: ‘The Hammer of God’* [image 1 104x150] [image 3 108x150] A beautiful book has been put out of artwork by a designer collective whose work I love, and with whom I have worked: MALLEUS! They designed the exquisite poster for the night that I and C93 curated at Roadburn earlier this year. Their 112 page book, which really and truly comes in colours, is called ‘The Hammer of God’ and features a small text by myself (on page 93) on why I love their work so much; it also reproduces the C93 poster as well as many others, including favourite bands of mine like Six Organs of Admittance, Om, Sunn O))) and Blue Cheer.

*Jim Krewson is a genius and exhibiting in London in October* Matt Sweeney, now working with me and therefore in Current93, as well as lots of other fantastic projects, introduced me to the art of Jim Krewson. Matt emailed me some time ago and said
David, I love Jim Krewson's work. PLEASE pass along this invite to any of your freethinking pals. He's a big inspiration. Also happens to be one of the best bluegrass singers I've ever heard. Spread the word, love MS.
I checked out Jim's work and now I love it as much as Matt does. [image 2 275x211] He has an exhibition, entitled ‘Liebe für alle’ at Dicksmrs Gallery, 1–13 Adler Street, Unit 9, London E1 1EG. www.dicksmrs.com and her_indoors@dicksmrs.com and telephone +44 (0)7919 184289. Please take the time to see his work and I hope you love it as much as I do.

*C93 Birth Canal Blues 12" 3D cover* We forgot to put the cover image on the last update. Here it is! [image 4 100x100]

*Favourites of the moment* I have been listening a lot to the new album by Mark Fry, ‘Shooting the Moon’. Very touching and lovely and human. Many of you may know his underground classic ‘Dreaming with Alice’. If that moved you, so will this. www.markfry.co.uk and http://www.myspace.com/markfryartist ‘The Life and Death of Mr Badman’ by John Bunyan My favourite Coptic text at the moment is ‘The Panegyric on Macarius of Tkow’, edited by DW Johnson, which I am re-reading. Any of you who are interested in this text can find it in two separate volumes, one of which has the Coptic text and one of which has the English translation (which can also be purchased separately). This volume (Vol. 416) has the English text, and this volume (Vol. 415) has the Coptic text. Thanks and peace and happiness to you all. God is Love. David+++
